Samsung gives up Microsoft's Mango Phone in Korea

Reportedly, finally Samsung  abandoned its plan for rolling out Mango phone which embeds Windows mobile 7.5 O/S, in Korean market. In October last year, even Samsung shipped out Windows 7.5 phones to Europe, Russia and South East Asian market with brand name of 'OMNIA W', Samsung recalls nightmare experience with prior Windows phone in Korea in 2009. Samsung had in trouble of class action lawsuit caused by Windows O/S phone in Korea. Nokia's brand new Mango phone, Lumia 710, which rolled out in Korea from Dec. 26th through KT, does not appeal impressively to customers. That's additional reason why Samsung makes a decision to give up Mango phone in Korea. Also as we know Samsung reinforces to merge its proprietary BADA O/S with TIZEN alliance which was escalated by Intel and also next upcoming Windows 8 O/S was unveiled in CES 2012. These around facts look to make Samsung to hesitate driving its sales force in Mango phone.

If you would like to experience voice recognition like Siri on your Samsung's Android smartphones, In CES, Samsung opened its dedicated voice recognition App, 'Dragon Go' by Nuance (www.nuance.com) who is a provider of Siri to Apple. In my experience, this 'Dragon Go' could be installed only in Samsung Galaxy.

Looks no reason to deny UV(UltraViolet) service

Reportedly, at the UV (www.uvvu.com) alliance conference in CES in Jan. 11th, Samsung announced that Samsung will adopt the interface with Amazon's UV studio in its blue-ray player. Bill Carr, executive VP of digital for Amazon, said that Amazon will open its UV contents studio which will be a retail market place for UV compatible DVD and digital contents. This hand shaking between two massive players seems to affect to cloud service, digital content, DVD eco system and UV's explosive potential comparing to Youtube and Netflix. In addition these mentions from both companies about UV service mean that Amazon will not be limited to access the its UV studio (market place) only for its tablet, Kindle Fire which is a unified window to access Amazon. There looks to be implicative nuance to be read in it. The Kindle Fire is an undeniable flagship tablet in cost effectiveness and Samsung has enough talent to attack to high-end market in hardware view. And Amazon would be the only rival of iTunes. In return to UV, according to its FAQ (http://www.uvvu.com/faqs.php), this seems to have quite tolerance and flexible on users at this beginning stage. For example, no hidden cost, 6 users are able to share their contents each other, max. 3 users can share the contents concurrently, it allows physical ripping to disc and so on. However, we can not find any similar present players like as Apple and Netflix in its alliance yet. That means this UV is threatening them now??

TIZEN smartphone from Samsung in this year

 TIZEN (www.tizen.org), the next generation opensource O/S for smart devices based on Linux, releases its first trial source code and SDK to developers and also official release will be opened within next 2 or 3 months. "The first version of Tizen is just for preview, not suitable for application producing yet, but we expect the official release should be hand on within several months", explained by the Linux Foundation (www.linuxfoundation.org). Reportedly, In rumor, Samsung will unveil its first Tizen smartphone in 3Q this year.
