Korea National Police Agency said that the portion of new adult drivers below 25-year-old in total new licensee is continuously decreasing from 19.2%(2005) to 13.9% (2010), even this generation occupies more 1% of total population during same period. This phenomenon can be found in other countries as well. According to KARI(Korea Automotive Research Institute, http://kari.hyundai.com), Teenager new driver between 16~19 years old decreased from 87%(1983) to 75%(2008) and teenager between 18~19 years old of Japan decrease 36.5%(2002) to 33.3%(2010). KARI says even vehicle sales increase every year, teenager does not give his curiosity to vehicle.
Youth people has cheaper and more attractive things like as smartphone and tablets than car, that's why youth does not fall into the car anymore. KARI says "In old generation youth expressed his personality with a car, but now the position is occupied by smart devices" For example the group of 18~24 year-old in the States answers that they like more smart phone than vehicle. Of course, there might be influenced in this trend by job market for youth.
