Single Chip LTE(4G) smartphones are coming soon

Major smartphone makers in Korea are developing their brand new LTE(4G) smartphones, which employ single SoC for LTE from Qualcomm, and expect to launch in May or June this year. The present LTE phone integrates 3 chips at least for LTE, 3G(2G) and application processor independently and this architecture makes not only a reason for cost up but affects deeply power drain and physical dimension of LTE smartphone. The industry expects this next LTE smartphone with Single SoC might lead strong market demand toward LTE based on less price, enough battery life and more sleek design. "The 3 chips architecture was an cause that most present LTE smatphones have large display above 4.5 inch", a person from maker said.
